The father and son duo of Steve and Scott Thomsen will be hoping to put their best foot forward when they travel south later this month to contest the 2016-17 season Powranna Plant Hire Australian Wingless Sprint Championship at Carrick Speedway in Tasmania.

The Maryborough-based pair have shown solid speed throughout the 2016-17 season so far, with Steve having scored a number of top-five finishes and Scott having come away with multiple minor podium results, along with feature-race wins at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway and also at Carrick Speedway in Tasmania.

Scott Thomsen, a two-time Queensland Champion, is looking to once again be a front-running contender, after suffering a heartbreaking DNF, due to a mechanical issue in last season’s Australian Championship-deciding feature race at Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec Oils Speedway, having proven his pace by qualifying second.

Scott’s run of bad luck continued in last season’s Queensland Title at his home track, Maryborough Speedway, once again suffering a disappointing DNF in the closing stages of the feature race, following a collision with defending Australian Champion Daniel Hartigan while they were battling for the lead.

The current Tasmanian # 2 driver is a proven top qualifier and will be hoping to change his title fortune by continuing his recent winning form when he takes to the track for this weekend’s Australian Championship, while his dad Steve will be aiming to come away with a strong result.
