Chadwick Running Hot In SA

By Phil Michell

For the third time in as many weeks the South Australian Wingless Sprint racers will visit yet another venue this weekend as one of the biggest fields of the season contest round 4 of the Speedway City Track Championship. This event comes hot on the heels of a two night show at the Westline Speedway at Whyalla and another race at the Murray Machining & Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway.

Going back a fortnight ago (Friday November 13 & Saturday November 14) saw a small but competitive field head west for rounds 1 and 2 of the Track Championship, Dan Evans and Joel Chadwick taking the main event wins, Evans on Friday and Chadwick on Saturday.

“Whyalla on Friday night saw Daniel Obst having oil pressure issues all night which was the cause of his DNS in the final, as well as the reason for his withdrawal from Saturday night’s event. The racing was very clean and pretty much crash free all weekend with the only major incident that of Darryl Sloan running to high coming out of turn 4 in heat 4 on Saturday while running second and destroying a right rear wheel in the process making him unable to finish the race. Dan Evans and Joel Chadwick were very fast all weekend with Anthony Tapley showing great pace on the Saturday night of racing with a second place finish in the Final. It was also great to see Anthony McMillan and David White, both from Victoria, make the long trek over for the two night event. Lucy Evans and local driver Wayne Fosteris were both consistent over the weekend’s racing.

The following weekend (November 21) 10 competitors battled it out at Murray Bridge with the pleasing aspect being half of the field had travelled from either the Mallee regions of South Australia or Mildura (Victoria) to make up the field.

Following his win at Whyalla Joel Chadwick once again proved he was the class of the field as he recorded yet another dominant win over Jake Ashworth and Darryl “The Prez” Sloan, who survived a torrid battle with Mildura’s Travis Beasley and William Caruso. Earlier the heat winners were Chadwick and Ashworth.

This weekend a field of 13 drivers has nominated for Speedway City including all three previous Speedway City A-Main winners Robert Heard, Jake Ashworth and Matthew Kennedy.

CURRENT NOMINATIONS: Speedway City, Saturday 28th November 2015: S2 Jake Ashworth, S8 Darryl Sloan, S10 William Caruso, S19 Michael Spoljaric, S21 Matthew Kennedy, S22 Daniel Obst, S24 Aaron Doe, S30 Jaime Lee Andrews, S33 Brad Evans, S41 Bronson Mauro, S44 Lucy Evans, S46 Spencer Taylor, S57 Robert Heard
