Murray Bridge racer Robert Heard added yet another feature event win to his credit last weekend as he drove his lime green #57 Triple X into victory lane at the Tolmer Speedway at Bordertown. After winning two of the three preliminary heats Heard proved to be unstoppable in the main event as he defeated Mount Gambier’s Mitchell Broome and Anthony Tapley.

Following the podium finishers in the main event were rookie Michael Ross, Mildura’s Mitchell Gladman, Roydn Bailey and Casey Vanderstelt.

A field of 10 competitors from across South Australia and Victoria assembled at “The Bullring” for the first event of the season at Bordertown with the format including three rounds of heats prior to the A-Main.

The night began with Travis Beasley winning the opening heat and as it turned out he was the only driver other than Heard to greet the chequered flag first all evening. Casey Vanderstelt and Mitch Gladman finished second and third respectively with Heard finishing back in fifth.

From this point it was the Robert Heard show as he won heat two from Michael Ross and Tapley while Heard defeated Broome and Tapley in the final heat.

This weekend the Wingless Sprints will return to the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway with 12 competitors set to brave the heat and take to the track for the final time prior to Christmas.

The field includes the likes of Joel Chadwick, who will be searching for his third victory in a row, last weekend’s winner Robert Heard, Brett Ireland, Jake Ashworth, Anthony Tapley, Renee Pestka and Spencer Taylor.
