It’s all engines go for the Victorian Wingless Sprints ladies as they gear up in preparation for the four-round Intercity Signs Ladies of the Dirt Series.

The Ladies in the Dirt Series, now its fourth season running, will take place over four rounds, commencing at Nyora Raceway this Sunday (April 17), before heading to Laang Speedway for round two on the Saturday night of April 23. Racers will then travel inland for the penultimate round three at Darlington’s Mid-Western Speedway on the Saturday night of May 7, before returning to Nyora Raceway on the Sunday of May 22 for the fourth and final round.

The Ladies of the Dirt Series will again take the opportunity to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, with drivers donning pink and selling wrist bands and stickers as well as completing driver walk-throughs in the crowd to collect cash donations at each round. With nearly 60,000 people living with breast cancer in Australia today, the Victorian Wingless Sprints are hoping to make a small difference by doubling their event as a fundraiser.

“It’s fantastic to see that the Ladies of the Dirt Series is quickly becoming a poplar annual event,” said Demelza Nettlefold, Ladies of the Dirt Series organiser and fellow Wingless Sprints driver.

“It’s a great opportunity, not only to recognise the ladies of speedway and showcase their talent, but to also raise awareness for breast cancer and collect donations for such an important and worthy charity that’s very close to many people’s hearts.”

While last season Ladies in the Dirt Series Champion Jess Moulden will not be racing, this season’s event will see the likes of Samantha Millar, Renae Eastham, Bree Hall, Jaime-Lee Smith, Te-arni Perkins, Demelza Nettlefold, Brittany Kuypers, Skye Day and Georgia McLeod contesting every round, while Kirste Bosse, Bianca Klemm, Sarah Robilliard, Elira DeGrandi and South Australian Mikayla Hein are set to contest selected rounds.
