Rushworth Speedway Podium

Tim Ludeman and Jay Nicolaisen shared Wingless Sprints feature-race wins over the Labour Day Long Weekend at Moama’s Heartland Raceway and Rushworth Speedway tracks respectively.

On Saturday night at Heartland Raceway, Ludeman won the’ $1000 to Win’ race meeting after he had started the feature race from position two and went on to lead the entire distance. Jay Nicolaisen chase after Ludeman for the whole race but in the end had to settle for second. Luke Cole rounded out the podium finishers in third.

Travis Millar, who had impressed throughout the previous weekend’s Australian Title at Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec Oils Speedway in Queensland, finished just off the podium in fourth ahead of Harley Nicolaisen, Haydn Reeves, Darcy McGlade, Paul Drew, David White and Glen Harris. Wayne Logue, Sam Wren and Matthew Thacker failed to reach the finish.

Earlier in the night, the heat-race wins were shared between Logue (x 2), Millar (x 2), Jay Nicolaisen and Ludeman.

For the ‘$500 to Win’ event on the Sunday night at Rushworth Speedway, the Nicolaisen brothers, Jay and Harley, starred on home soil by finishing in first and second place on the podium respectively. The Nicolaisen was rapt to have the Wingless Sprints at their track for the first time and were over the moon to go on and dominate the podium by the end of the feature race.

The previous night’s feature-race winner Ludeman finished in third place. Luke Cole ended up in fourth ahead of the final finishers Adam Smith and Glen Harris. Michael Skene and Jason Beattie were unable to finish the feature race.

The earlier heat-race wins went the way of Harley Nicolaisen (x 2) and Smith.

For both Ludeman and Nicolaisen, it was their maiden feature-race wins in the Wingless Sprints class.

The next race meetings for the Victorian Wingless Sprints are going to be at Portland’s Southern 500 Speedway on Friday night and then this Saturday night at Nyora Raceway. The latter event is going to be the third round of Velocita Safety Australia Gippsland Challenge Series.
