Series Double at Murray Bridge

The 2024/25 Wingless Sprints SA Triple Crown finally gets underway this Saturday night at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway following the opening round rainout at the Borderline Speedway in December. This weekend’s event is officially round 2 of the series with the final round to be held at the new look Tolmer Speedway in April. Not only will the drivers be racing for Tri Series points, but they will also be competing for overall honours in round 4 the State Series, therefore it will be a huge night for our local Wingless racers.
With points for both series on offer the event has attracted almost 40 local drivers from across the state with competitors travelling from the South-East, the Riverland, the Adeliade Hills, Yorke Peninsula and of course metropolitan Adelaide. Basically, the driver line-up is as good as it gets in South Australia with the exception of only a couple of competitors who are missing due to a tough Summer Slam campaign last week.
Included in the line-up are the likes of Jack McCarthy, who is fresh off a win in the Speedcar Pro Series at Mount Gambier, Super2 racer Brad Vaughan, who was the winner during Summer Slam at Laang, Warrnambool Summer Slam and Sydney Wide Open Series winner Tyson Martin. The former two times State Champion was also victorious in the Tolmer Wingless Invitational so he is career best form right now and must be a favourite to continue his winning ways at Murray Bridge.
Also in the field is Rylan Furler who completed the all South Australian podium in the Summer Slam final. Tailem Bend resident Sam Martin is another who can’t be discounted after his victory at the NAPA Speedway in Adelaide along with several outstanding Murray Bridge performances.
Other notable nominations include former Australian Champion Joel Chadwick, Hayden Vickers, who was third at Laang, Sprintcar regular Keke Falland, Anthony Tapley, who was third at Tolmer, Rhys Heinrich, Mildura’s Jordon Bolitho, Kadina’s Tate Cowie, local favourite Mason Merritt, and Bordertown’s James Rodda. After sitting out the early stages of the season Nate Trewin is set to make his first Murray Bridge start of the season so it will be interesting to see how he goes against his rivals who have a lot more recent seat time than the impressive youngster.
With such a large nomination list the format will see two rounds of heats, a Top 6 Dash, a C-Main, a B-Main and a 30-lap A-main.
