For the second time this season the Wingless Sprints will feature at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway with 36 drivers nominated for the October 18 event. The list includes 9 of the top 10 drivers from the opening night’s feature event along with several high-profile additions, including the current Australian Champion Tyson Martin and regular feature winner Jack McCarthy. But they will have to work hard for the win this weekend as they missed gaining some valuable early season track time but having said that Martin is coming off a trip north to Darwin and McCarthy dominated the Speedcar events at the venue over the October long weekend.

Following his victory on night 1 dual National Champion Joel Chadwick will be looking to build on his successful debut driving for Andrew and Lyn May and he will be determined to get an early season win over the defending Australian Champion. Rylan Furler will be another to watch as he will be hoping to go one spot better than his last start after leading for a majority of the opening A-Main. Mildura’s Jordon Bolitho will be another major contender after an impressive outing last start, which included two heat wins and a podium feature result.

Regular front runner Jack McCarthy is set for a busy night as he is entered to compete in both Caleb Evans’ second Wingless Sprint and his own LS Powered Sprintcar, so he will get plenty of laps on Saturday night. Despite the fact he will be jumping between cars throughout the night McCarthy has the talent to have a successful night in both classes.

After missing the opening night at Murray Bridge several other drivers will join Martin and McCarthy in their season debut on Saturday including Melissa Crouch, who recently recorded a podium finish in Speedcar competition at Murray Bridge, local Murray Bridge racer Brett Ireland, who will drive one of the Pitcher Racing entries, young live-wire Thomas Norvill and Harley Alexander.

The impressive line-up also includes Michael Spoljaric, Robert Heard, Darryl Sloan, James Rodda, Ross Miller and rookie Hayden Mason, who will all be hoping to build on their early season top 10 results while Sam Martin, Tate Cowie, Kaitlyn Vickers, Jesse Alexander and Thomas Walkom will all be optimistic about bouncing back from a tough season opener.

The action throughout the heats will be at a maximum, with 36 cars nominated the heat fields will be at capacity with 12 car races, the largest grid size allowed as written in the AWSR rule book. The six heat races will be followed by a B-Main and a 25-lap finale.
