The 2018-19 season West Gippsland Wingless Sprint Series concluded at Drouin Speedway with last Sunday’s third and final round, and it saw Brad Foster claim the series point standings honours in the best possible fashion.
Foster, who is an experienced Sprintcar racer, went into the final round with a slim point standing’s lead over youngster Travis Evans, and in the end, it was Foster’s experience that saw him prevail. In what was his maiden Wingless Sprint feature-race win in his two seasons in the class, Foster had double cause for celebration by coming out on top in the final point standings.

After starting the feature race from pole position alongside Evans, Foster managed to pace the field for the entire 20-lap distance, while Evans spun out early in the race and consequently finished further back in the field due to being ordered to the rear of the field for the restart, which saw him lose the opportunity of denying Foster of series success.
At the fall of the chequered flag in the feature race, Foster defeated Kim-Loong Gosling in second and Scott Irons in third. Finishing just off the podium was Wayne Logue and Renae Eastham in fourth and fifth place respectively.
In the heat-race action, the wins were claimed by Foster, Evans and Daniel Mayson.
The next two events for the Victorian Wingless Sprints will be this Saturday night’s 50 Lapper event at Bairnsdale Speedway in the eastern Gippsland region and this Saturday night’s Stony Point 5000 at Darlington’s Mid-Western Speedway in the western district of the state.
