Hat Trick for Chadwick at Speedway CityHat Trick For Chadwick At Speedway City

By Phil Michell

Last Saturday night (January 9) Joel Chadwick tuned up for the upcoming Murray Bridge Glass South Australian Wingless Sprint Title with his third consecutive A-main victory at Speedway City. Following two solid heat results Chadwick qualified on the outside of the front row alongside Robert Heard and from the drop of the green he was unstoppable as he cruised to the main event win.

Second across the line was pole sitter Robert Heard with current State Champion Jarman Dalitz, who was making his first start of the season, getting the better of Matthew Kennedy to claim third. The final podium spot was only decided just prior to the final stoppage of the race that actually resulted in the race being declared on the final lap.

Fifth place went to Bronson Mauro, who put in his best result of the season, with Mildura’s Travis Beasley, Brad Evans, Michael Ross and Aaron Doe rounding out the finishers.

The drivers who failed to go the distance included Spencer Taylor and Darryl Sloan, who made contact in turn two, William Caruso, Daniel Evans and Daniel Obst while Mildura racer Anthony McMillian and Brandon Forrester failed to take the green.

Earlier in the night the 16 car field were split into heat groups with the heat winners being Spencer Taylor, Jarman Dalitz, Robert Heard and Brad Evans. During the heat races Dan Evans, who was substituting for his sister Lucy who felt ill, rolled the #44 JEI in turn two after clipping the infield tractor tyres.

The South Australian Championship will be the next Wingless Sprint event to be held at Speedway City with the Title scheduled for January 30, 2016. There are currently 25 nominations for this event.
