000 - Peter Logue

On Saturday night, the Victorian Wingless Sprints held their annual presentation night at Capri Receptions in North Geelong, where they celebrated what has been a successful 2015-16 season.

In the Victorian Wingless Sprints Club Aggregate point score, it was veteran Peter Logue who came out on top, following a consistent season which saw him score several top-five results. In the runner-up spot, after multiple feature-race wins and podium places, it was Daniel Storer, who finished ahead of a much-improved Glenn Watts in third.

Daniel Storer, who was also awarded the Best Presented Car and Crew trophy as voted by his peers, went on to receive his third trophy of the night when he was named Alfie’s Excavation & Plant Hire Super Series Champion 327 points ahead of Logue, who took second place. Current and two-time Victorian Champion James Wren finished just 32 points behind to clinch third place and was also voted by his peers to receive the Wally McDowell Best and Fairest award.

In the Intercity Signs Ladies of the Dirt Series, Samantha Millar was all smiles as she was crowned Champion just three points ahead of Jaimie-Lee Smith, who had scored two series round wins and had some misfortune in the final round that denied her of the top spot in the final point standings. Renae Eastham managed to secure third place, following consistent performances throughout the series.

In the Velocita Safety Eastern Challenge, Warrick Taylor was awarded top honours, after a battle in the final round of the Challenge saw him gain the edge over Wayne Hurford and Todd Hobson in second and third respectively. Wayne Hurford was also awarded the Gary Bowden Memorial trophy.

Daniel’s younger brother Luke Storer was named Most Improved Driver, while Rookie of the Year was awarded to Jay Nicolaisen. Glen Harris and Te-arni Perkins received the Encouragement Awards and the President’s Award went to Victorian Wingless Sprints committee member Bianca Reeves.

To top off a fantastic night, in the prize draws Luke Weel won a brand new COOL Chassis thanks to his round two win at Borderline Speedway earlier in the season, while Georgia McLeod won a custom-made race suit from Velocita Safety Equipment.
