Following a stunning upset win by Sam Martin on the opening night of competition the result on Saturday night was a little more familiar as dual South Australian Champion Tyson Martin added to his win list at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway.

After starting from the pole Tyson Martin completely dominated the final as he led all 20 laps to finish ahead of Ryan Alexander, who was unable to capitalise on several late restarts. Jack McCarthy, who enjoyed a consistent night, was able to finish third ahead of Bronson Mauro, who had impressive speed all evening, and Matthew Tyler, who was making his first start for the season, managed to grab a top five result after transferring from the B-Main.

Despite a short feature event the race proved to be tough on several of the leading drivers as the likes of Anthony Tapley, who running as high as third, Nate Trewin, Kirby Hillyer, Jason Bolitho, Michael Spoljaric and Caleb Evans all finishing on the infield.

Sam Martin backed up his feature win from a month ago with another strong run as he finished sixth with the top 10 being rounded out Darryl Knuckey, Mason Merritt, Robert Heard and William Caruso.

The opening round of heat races were run a fairly slippery racetrack as the track was well watered in the afternoon. After a series of hot laps to bring the track in the winners in the first round of heats included McCarthy, Tapley and Caleb Evans. The second round saw the racing improve as Ryan Alexander, Jason Bolitho and Tyson Martin claimed heat wins, although heat six wasn’t close up front as Martin won by 8 seconds.

The B-Main only saw nine cars front for action as six drivers had called it for the night and after the 15 laps had been completed it was Matthew Tyler who won by over 2 seconds ahead of the Pitcher Racing pairing of Mason Merritt and Robert Heard. Michael Spoljaric was the final driver to book his spot in the A-main.

Nicole Southby, Tate Cowie, Andy Thomas, Tyson Newton and rookie Leanne Turner completed the B-Main finishers.

The South Australian Wingless Sprint competitors will now take a week off before the opening round of the Ti-Bills State Series at Whyalla on November 11, 2023.
