Last Saturday night saw the Wingless return to Archerfield for the first time this season. A field of 13 cars contested three heats with all drivers competing in two heats each. 10 local cars plus three coming up from Northern NSW saw three hotly contested heats. Green Wright in Car 99, who was the form driver in the opening Round of the Queensland Club Championship winning the feature race at the last meeting at Toowoomba once again proved to be in very good early season form winning his two heats. The other heat was won by the consistent frontrunner, No. 17 of Adam Butler. Twelve drivers backed up for the 15 lap Feature Race with Wright on Pole, Butler on his outside, position 3 was Tim Harris in the 75 car and out of 4 was the 69 car of Jason King. It was good hard but clean racing during the night.
Track conditions were perfect and our feature was the first race after interval. In a very entertaining race, Adam Butler was first followed by Glenn Wright and Jason King getting his first ever podium feature race with a strong third. Tim Harris dove a consistent race to come home in 4th place with a strong drive.
Our next meeting will be Round 3 of the Qld Club Championship at Kingaroy to be held on 22nd October. Prizemoney for this meeting will be $290 for 1st, $190 for 2nd, $90 for 3rd with all other finishers in the A Main feature receiving $60 per car.
