It has been a busy week for the NSW Wingless Sprints with two meetings completed at Valvoline Raceway in six days.
The first meeting was held on December 28 and with a field of 58 cars trackside for the event, some great racing ensued.
Dubbo’s Mark Blyton walked away with the win on that night ahead of Sean Dicker and Troy Carey. It was decided, and voted on by drivers on the night, that there would be no championship points allocated to the event. However, Mark Blyton was still awarded another main event victory.
Following the top three home was Sean Mayo ahead of Daniel Flood, Jason Bates, Ashleigh Jack, Michael Gray, Kyle Mock, Mitchell O’Brien, Peter Granger, Jarrad Rust, Dean Thomas, Wayne Arnold, Lou Pacchiarotta and Nathan Dicker was the final placed finisher. Non-finishers were Darryl Marshall, Steve Thomas, Jason Davis, Jeff Pyne, Michael Sammut, John McRae, Chris McInerney and Cody Boulding.
Heat wins went to Sean Dicker, John McRae, Mark Blyton, Cody Boulding, Mitchell O’Brien and Darryl Marshall. Chris McInerney was victorious in the B-Main.
Nikki Briton rode out a wild flip in an early heat race however she emerged unscathed.
Tuesday, January 3 drivers returned to Valvoline Raceway. A total of 46 drivers were in the pits. Another good night of racing was had by all drivers.
This time it was Dean Thomas who drove to victory in the twenty lap main event ahead of Sean Dicker and Troy Carey.
The event was brought to a grinding halt on lap five when Jamison Blyton, Kris Johnson and Steve Tomas had a moment in turns one and two. Jamison needed ambulance attention, but was able to get out of the car unaided and was given the all clear by ambulance officers.
Dean Thomas took the lead on lap eight from early pace setter Daniel Flood and did not surrender the lead from that point. Both Sean Dicker and Troy Carey scored their second podium finish, in that order, in as many meetings.
Fourth home was Daniel Flood who showed good pace all night and Kyle Mock, who put on one of the drives of the night, finished fifth. Mock went as low as 22nd in the early laps clawed his way back to fifth in what was a great drive. Nathan Dicker was sixth, Marshall Blyton was seventh, Mark Blyton from the B-Main finished ninth and Jason Bates, who also had to come from the back after an early race spin, managed a solid tenth place finish.
Jason Davis finished eleventh ahead of Wayne Arnold, Michael Sammut, Luke Sayre, Jamie Dicker, Graham Flood, Cody Boulding, Sam Louttit, Leighton O’Brien, Nick Tatnell and Mitchell O’Brien was the final on track finisher. The only three non-finishers were Jamison Blyton, Steve Thomas and Kristopher Johnson.
Eight heat races were contested with wins going to Jason Davis, Mark Blyton, Sean Dicker, Simon Bestmann, Michael Sammut, Daniel Flood, Jason Bates and Dean Thomas.
Two B-Mains were run with wins going to Jamie Dicker and Kyle Mock.
The next event for the NSW Wingless Sprints is this Saturday night at Nowra Speedway where a field of 37 cars has nominated for the event.
