Moore Race Wins For Normie’s Team

For the second time this season the Moore Saw Sharpening Team found victory lane with Team Owner Normie Moore claiming an all the way win in the opening round of the Wingless Sprints SA State Series last Saturday night at the Whyalla Speedway. Moore’s win came hot on the heels of Tyson Martin’s A-main victory in the Team’s second entry at Murray Bridge a fortnight earlier and as a result the veteran racer now leads the State Series ahead of feature race runner-up Jesse Alexander.
Third place in the 20-lap finale went to Kadina resident Tate Cowie with Hayden Vickers completing the journey in fourth. Fifth place went the way of Anthony Tapley who was the only driver to make any forward progress during the event after clawing his way into the top five after starting from the back row. Alan Saint, Lachlan Evans, Darryl Sloan, Michael Busby and Bronson Mauro completed the field.
Earlier heat wins went the way of Vickers (2), Saint and Sloan with the top 6 dash going the way of Moore. The dash draw proved to be a pivotal point of the night with Vickers inverting the entire field and he was only able to move up one spot in the six-lap race. With the track being a little one laned in the final Vickers was unable to progress through the field eventually finishing where he started.
Due to his opening round win Normie Moore leads the State Series points ahead of Jesse Alexander, Hayden Vickers, Tate Cowie and Darryl Sloan.
Points after Round 1 of the Wingless Sprints SA State Series: 1. S9 Normie Moore 107 Points 2. S84 Alexander 104, 3. S36 Hayden Vickers 103, 4. S56 Tate Cowie 95, 5. S8 Darryl Sloan 91, 6. S54 Alan Saint 89, 7. S33 Lachlan Evans 84, 8. S47 Anthony Tapley 84, 9. S99 Michael Busby 80, 10. S41 Bronson Mauro 78.
