Last Saturday night at Adelaide Motorsport Park Joel Chadwick once again showed his class, when he sped to victory and managed to successfully defend his South Australian Wingless Sprint Title.

Starting on the front row alongside pole-sitter Travis Millar for the 25-lap South Australian Title-deciding feature race, Chadwick managed to get the jump on his rival to take the early lead. Despite a late-race charge from the Victorian on the final lap, Chadwick couldn’t be stopped, delivering a faultless defence to be crowned back-to-back wins in the event.

Robert Heard, from Murray Bridge, was able to hold on to his starting position to seize the final podium spot in third, as were Michael Spoljaric and Matthew Kennedy, who rounded out the top five. Completing the top-10 finishers were Dale Gesell, Joel Heinrich, Anthony Tapley, Trent Gravestock and Darryl Sloan, while Shaun McClure, Bronson Mauro, Brad Evans, Casey Vanderstelt, Jason Bolitho and Melissa McMillan were the remaining finishers.

Aaron Doe and Travis Beasley were forced to retire from the feature race six laps in, while Wayne Hurford also retired but it was on the opening lap.

The night began with an action-packed opening heat race, which saw Anthony McMillan barrel roll and hit the fence after contact with another competitor, while Haydn Farrow endured a large crash after hitting the turn-three wall. While they were thankfully unharmed, both drivers were unfortunately out of contention for the rest of the night. Continuing the drama, Gravestock was disqualified from the heat race after driving through the accident scene while the red lights were on.

Heat-race wins went the way of Millar (x 2), Hurford, Sloan, Kennedy and Chadwick.
