The 2016-17 season winning ways continued for Luke Weel last Saturday night, taking out the fourth Victorian Wingless Sprint Super Series round, presented by Salt Electrical, at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway.

Lining up on pole position for the 25-lap feature race, Weel gave a dominant performance and was never headed, going on to score his fourth consecutive feature race in recent weeks.

Second-place starter Chris Halesworth managed to hold on to his position to take the runner-up spot, as did Mick Parry, who rounded out the podium in third. This was a fantastic result for the pair, who utilised their home track knowledge to finish inside the top three.

Finishing just off the podium in fourth was Dayn Bentvelzen, with Mitchell Broome, Travis Bergmeier, Ebony Hobson, Marcus Green, Peter Merrett and Bhoe Paterson completing the top 10.

The remaining finishers were Jesse Nicholas, Adam Smith, Jaidyn Job (JDS Motorsport & Racing Hard Charger award recipient), Todd Hobson and Scott Irons.

It was a disappointing night for defending Super Series Champion Daniel Storer, who missed out on valuable series points after being unable to finish the feature race, with Jason Langdon also a feature-race retirement.

The heat-race action earlier in the night saw wins shared between Glenn Watts, Parry, Tyson Bartlett, Bentvelzen, Irons, Halesworth, Bergmeier, Broome and Wayne Logue.

Green, Storer and Todd Hobson were the top-three finishers in B main 1, securing feature-race transfer spot, while Smith, Nicholas and Job transferred into the feature race via B main 2, with Green being the highest placed B main transferee, finishing the feature race in eighth.
