Wingless Track Championship Starts At The Bridge

For the second time this season Wingless Sprints will headline the action at the Murray Machining and Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway with Round 1 of the Ninety-Eight Apparel Track Championship presented by Ridleys SA this Saturday night (October 17). The opening round of the Championship has attracted a field of 33 drivers with a majority of the field registered as Murray Bridge Speedway Club Members making them eligible for the $5,000 overall Championship prize.
With opening night winner Mitch Broome missing from the entry list, a new driver will be added to the 2026/27 season winners list although since the class last raced at Murray Bridge Tyson Martin was victorious at Mildura in the Gateway Mildura Wingless Stampede. Martin will be hoping to build on that success, and he will be looking for a better night at Murray Bridge after finding himself in the B-main in September.
Rylan Furler and Joel Chadwick were the best performing drivers on night 1 of the field that will be present, with Furler finishing as the runner-up while Chadwick stormed to third following a B-Main start. After missing the opening night due to competing in Darwin Jack McCarthy will be a driver to watch as he searches for his second main event win of the season (Northline Speedway) and he will also be competing in his LS Sprintcar so he will have a very busy night.
Other notable entries include Anthony Tapley, Brett Ireland, who returns after a nasty crash on night 1, Robert Heard, Hayden Mason, Mason Merritt, Austin McDonald, Thomas Walkom, Andy Thomas, Michael Spoljaric, and Thomas Norvill. The only Victorian entry this weekend will be young Mildura racer Declan Bolitho.
With over 30 cars the format for Round 1 of the Track Championship will include 6 heat races, a B-main and a 30-lap A-main.
Round 2 of the 5 round Track Championship will be on November 14, 2026.
