Joel Rhind was victorious in a hard fought battle with Mark Blyton in the Wingless Sprints feature race at Valvoline Raceway on Saturday night.
After taking full advantage of a front row start, the comeback racer led all twenty laps, but in the dying stages of the race, came out on top after Mark Blyton threw everything at him to try and take the lead. Following Rhind and Blyton home was Jason Davis in third.
The usual close, wheel to wheel action provided by the NSW Wingless Sprints was on display again as back in the pack there was plenty of passing and action which was in complete opposite to the top three who were in command of the race.
Following the top three home was Peter Granger in fourth, top qualifier Sean Mayo came home in fifth, Ashleigh Jack continued her impressive run of late to finish sixth, seventh was Daniel Flood who raced his way from the B-Main and did a great job, Jason Bates came home in eighth, ninth was Kyle Mock who returned after a big crash in Goulburn two weeks ago and also had to come through the B-Main and tenth was Mitchel O’Brien who started deep in the field.
Eleventh was Jamie Dicker in the drive of the night. Jamie was forced to start from the rear of the B-Main after changing cars and finished fourth, just securing a transfer to the main event. Then from the final row, charged to just outside the top ten.
Twelfth was Harley Smee followed by Jarrad Rust, Luke Sayre, Graham Flood, Kyle Angel, Troy Carey, Cody Boulding, Michael Sammut, Brian Briton and Jamison Blyton. Non-finishers were Brock Gardiner and Dean Thomas. Sadly for Jeff Thomas, he was a non-starter in the event.
Ten heats were run to kick start the night and wins went to Harley Smee, Brian Briton, Jason Davis, Brock Gardiner, Peter Granger, Mark Blyton, Jarrad Rust, Dean Thomas, Sean Mayo and Graham Flood.
The two B-Mains went to Kyle Angel and Brian Briton.
The NSW Wingless Sprints would like to once again thank all drivers for putting on a top notch night of racing.
The next event on the NSW Wingless Sprints calendar will be next Saturday night, March 3 at Dubbo City Speedway for the next round of the Club Championship.
