Luke Sayre claimed an exciting win at Gilgandra Speedway on Saturday night as the NSW Wingless Sprints Club Championship continued.
The race went down to the wire as officials cut the last restart from four laps down to a green-white-chequer two lap sprint.
At the fall of the chequered flag, Sayre had too much for his opposition scoring a good win and continuing his good form of late.
Second to the line was Kyle Angel who is having a great start to his rookie Wingless Sprints season. Angel led the opening six circuits before being passed by Sayre however held on for a great second place finish.
Dubbo veteran and one of the crowd’s favourite Mark Blyton placed third giving him his best finish of the season to date.
Also recording their best finishes to date this season were Jeff Neve in fourth and Cody Boulding in fifth. Rounding out the top ten was Troy Carey, Jason Bates who was running further forward however slipped back late in the race, Peter Granger, Jamie Dicker and Andrew Seery.
Eleventh home was Graham Flood followed by Leighton O’Brien, Simon Bestmann, Ashleigh Jack, John McRae, Jamieson Blyton and Zac Pacchiarotta was the final on track finisher.
Non finishers were Harley Smee and Kyle Mock. Mitchell O’Brien was unfortunately a non-starter in the main event.
Earlier in the night heat race wins went to Mark Blyton, Harley Smee, Kyle Angel, Luke Sayre, Jamieson Blyton and Zac Pacchiarotta.
Simon Bestmann and Leighton O’Brien were the winners of the two B-Mains and top point scorer after the heats, Harley Smee, drew an invert six for the main event.
The night was a great success for the NSW Wingless Sprints with thirty-two cars making the trek to Gilgandra and the racing was great and entertained the fans all night.
The next event for the NSW Wingless Sprints will be this Saturday night, November 18 at Valvoline Raceway where another huge car count is expected.
