Ti Bills Series Round 1 This Saturday Night

By Phil Michell Motorsport Media

After hosting the opening round of the Ti-Bills Race Parts supported Wingless Sprint Series last season the 2023/24 edition of the series will once again kick off at the Whyalla Speedway. The first of five rounds, that will take in venues across South Australia and Victoria, will be staged this Saturday night (November 11) with a field of 22 drivers heading west to race on the unique red dirt.

With last season’s Champion Keke Falland concentrating on his Sprintcar racing full time this season a new Ti Bill’s Series Champion will be crowned and the list of potential winners is endless.

In what is star studded line-up it will be hard to predict a winner of the opening A-Main and unfortunately none of last season’s Whyalla podium place getters are in the field due to retirements and unavailability. But going into the event Tyson Martin would be considered the main threat having claimed the most recent feature race win at Murray Bridge in addition to claiming his second consecutive South Australian Championship at the venue late last season.

Jack McCarthy will be another driver to watch as he is always fast at Whyalla along with Rylan Furler, who was fourth in the corresponding race last year. Hayden Vickers, who makes a return following a large crash in March, Anthony Tapley, Jesse and Harley Alexander, Bronson Mauro, William Caruso, Jenna Kervers and Mason Merritt will also be out to get their series point score off to a fast start. A dark horse for the race and overall Championship could be Sam Martin, who stunned the field with an upset win at the season opener.

The format of each round of the Ti Bills Wingless Sprints SA State Series will consist of two rounds of heat races, with each race being 10 laps prior to a Stars Dash. The last chance B-Main (if required) will see 4 competitors transfer into the 30-lap A Main, which will be contested by a maximum of 20 cars.
