What a night it was for Peter Granger at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway, taking out the A-Main and beating home a stellar field to win the opening round of the NSW Wingless Sprints Club Championship.

Granger led all twenty-five circuits and coming under pressure numerous times, handled himself superbly to take a popular win for the Goulburn (NSW) area native.

Coming home in second was the Dubbo flyer Mark Blyton. Starting well entrenched inside the top ten, Blyton tried to make the most from a late race restart but just fell short by 0.232 of a second at the chequers.

Third home was Luke Sayre who drew an inverted four for the A-Main after clinching the top points award after the heats.

The racing was very intense on a very racy track and some anxious moments kept everyone on their toes for the entire race distance.

At the fall of the chequered flag though, it was all Peter Granger, earning a very well-deserved win. Following the top three of Granger, Mark Blyton and Luke Sayre was Dean Thomas with Jason Davis rounding out the top five.

Sixth home was Geoff Piekar followed by John McRae, Harley Smee, Jason Bates and one of the stars of the A-Main, Kyle Angel. Angel started from position twenty-four and battled all race to record a fantastic tenth place finish.

Eleventh home was Daniel Flood followed by Jamison Blyton, Kevin Willis, Zac Pacchiarotta, Troy Baker, Jeff Thomas, Jason Martin, Mitchell O’Brien, Jeff Neve, Graham Flood, Andrew Seery and Nick Tatnell was the last on-track finisher. Non finishers were Ashleigh Jack and Michael Sammut.

Earlier in the night, heat race wins went to Sammut, Bates, Sayre, Granger, Jason Martin, Dean Thomas, Mark Blyton and Troy Baker.

The B-Mains were taken out by Jamison Blyton and John McRae.

As mentioned earlier Luke Sayre topped the points after the heat, drawing an invert four the A-Main.

The NSW Wingless Sprints would like to thank and congratulate all drivers on a great night of racing.

The next event for the NSW Wingless Sprints will be this Saturday night, October 14 at the Goulburn Speedway.
