The Millar siblings, Travis and Samantha, claim victories at Nyora Raceway last Sunday, taking out the Open feature race and the opening Salt Electrical Ladies Race round respectively.

After a consistent start to the day, which saw him collect a second and a pair of third-place finishes during his heat races, Travis Millar lined up in pole position for the Open feature race. From there, he was never headed, leading the each of the 15 laps to take the win, off the back of also clinching both the Autobarn Eastern Challenge and the Gary Bowden Memorial Cup over the Easter long weekend.

Coming home in the runner-up spot was Wayne Logue, with Nic Green completing the podium in third. Wayne Hurford, Travis Bergmeier, Scott Irons and Chris Skilton rounded out the remaining finishers, while Todd Hobson was the only casualty, being forced to retire from the race after just one lap.

It was a close battle in the 12-lap Ladies feature race, which saw Samantha Millar ultimately seize the victory, ahead of hard-chargers Ebony Hobson and Renae Eastham in second and third place respectively. Stefanie McDonald was the final finisher.

Earlier in the day, Logue, Eastham and Todd Hobson each clinched a win in the Open heat races; however, Eastham’s fortune turned during heat race three, where the highest point scorers had to start from rear of field. Eastham was working her way through the field, along with Travis Millar and Logue, when contact was made between her and Irons on the last corner, sending Eastham into the wall and bringing her night to a premature end. Thankfully she emerged unharmed.

Beginning her night in the best possible fashion, Samantha Millar won the opening heat race, with Ebony Hobson taking the victory in heat race two.

Unfortunately for Te-arni Perkins, she was unable to compete in either of the feature races, after being plagued with overheating issues and recording a number of DNFs during the heat races.

The next appearance for the Wingless Sprints in Victoria will be this Saturday night’s Gold Cup at Laang Speedway.
