The NSW Wingless Sprints once again turned it on at Valvoline Raceway on Thursday night and in what can only be described as an edge of your seat thriller, Mark Blyton came away victorious in the main event after passing leader Jeff Thomas on the second last lap.

Blyton used his years of experience to work on a plan to get to the lead as he stalked Thomas lap after lap and raced away to his second main event win at Valvoline Raceway this season.

At the drop of the green flag, front row combatants Jeff Thomas and Ashleigh Jack drag raced to the first corner, with Jack settling into second. Blyton made his move past Ashleigh Jack on lap six and that’s how the positions at the top stayed, until the second last lap. Not only did Blyton make his move but so did Dean Thomas on Ashleigh Jack. Dean hung on to secure yet another podium finish and Jack scored one of her best finishes at Valvoline Raceway with a fourth place finish.

Rounding out the top five was Troy Baker who scored his career best result in Sydney. Finishing in sixth was Jason Martin, seventh was Harley Smee who started deep in the pack, eighth was Kyle Angel, ninth was Daniel Flood and tenth home was Sean Mayo who did a tremendous job after transferring from the B-Main.

Eleventh home was Peter Granger and he was followed home by Brian Briton, Leighton O’Brien, Luke Sayre, Sean Dicker, Jason Davis, Jeff Neve, Darryl Marshall and Wayne Arnold.

Non-finishers were Michael Sammut, Kyle Mock, Jamison Blyton, Geoff Piekar and Mikaela Blyton who was having her first run after a number of seasons absent.

Earlier in the night, all of the drivers put on a great display throughout their ten heats, which all ran incident free. Wins went the way of Jamison Blyton, Jeff Thomas, Michael Sammut, Kyle Mock, Peter Granger, Troy Baker, Dean Thomas, Mark Blyton and Jason Martin.

B-Main one was taken out by Harley Smee and B-Main two was a win for Brian Briton.

There were some notable drivers who failed to make the main event including Jason Bates, Troy Carey and Jamie Dicker, such is the level of competition at each show.

The NSW Wingless Sprints would like to congratulate all competitors on another top-notch race meeting.

The next event for the NSW Wingless Sprints will be Saturday, January 6 at Nowra Speedway. Another good line up is expected for that event.
