Late Season Show at Sunline

By Phil Michell

The first of two late season events at the Sunline Speedway at Waikerie for the Wingless Sprints will be held this Saturday night with the contest set to be more like a Family reunion than a Speedway event. The 8-car nomination list includes a Father / Son combination, a Brother and Sister and a pair of Brothers along with a Darryl Sloan (pictured) and Brett Ireland.

Local Renmark siblings Dan and Lucy Evans will be the crowd favourites with Dan Evans returning to the Riverland venue for the first time since claiming the 360ci Sprintcar Allstars main event back in February. Despite not racing as regularly this season as she has previously Lucy will still be a strong contender and is a previous feature winner in the class.

The Mildura duo of Travis and Brad Beasley will also feature prominently especially Travis who has been in great form late in the season, highlighted by a podium finish at the recent 50 lapper at his home track.

The final Family 2-Car Team, that of Keir and Aaron Doe are both hard charging drivers and they will both be worth watching, with Aaron being a genuine podium chance.

The final two drivers on the nomination list, “The Prez” Darryl Sloan, who is returning to action after sustaining chassis damage at the season finale at Murray Bridge and Murray Bridge resident Brett Ireland, who finished third in his last start, will be tough to beat as they attempt to finish the season on a high.

Racing this Saturday night at the Sunline Speedway at Waikerie will start at 5pm.
